Even though you won’t believe me, I’ve been talking about this epidemic for years, I just never got motivated to make a site dedicated to it. Now that T13 has been bumpin’ for awhile, I figured it was time to make this happen but at the local level. Boston sports fans might be some of the biggest offenders in the country. I love to make fun of some tool wearing a 4 year old jersey of a player that was either never good in the first place or played on the team for only one or two seasons. Then there are the people who wear the old Nomar, Damon (the worst offenders of all!) Milloy, Bourque or Antoine jerseys (along with many others!) to the game. Yes, they were good players at the time, so I don’t fault you for buying it back then but honestly, it’s time to retire it. You just look like an idiot. I understand they are expensive but if you really feel the need to wear a jersey of a player that hasn’t been on the roster for YEARS, please do it in the comfort of your own home. Otherwise, you are going to get called out and maybe end up right here on Thirsty13.com. I’m convinced that a good majority of these people don’t even realize these players are no longer on the team but that’s another issue altogether…
This pic was taken at Hurrican O'Dudes (aka O'Reilley's) in Boston before Game 5 of Round 2 against the Cavs. Would you really wear the jersey of a former Celtics player if there was a pretty good chance you might face him in the next round of the playoffs? There are guys selling Celtics shirts outside the Garden for like $10. If you can afford tickets to ANY playoff game, I think you can man up and purchase a current player jersey. The fact that this jersey was EVER available is even crazier, considering Billups was here for just 6 months before Rick Pitino gave up on him and traded him away. Ah, the good old days...
Eric Freakin’ Montross? Are you serious dude? I hope this is a really bad joke because I did get a slight chuckle when I first saw this jersey. Then I almost threw up in my mouth because it reminded me of those awful seasons in the 90’s when Montross was probably one of our best players. I believe I saw Montross working security at Showcase Cinemas in Lowell last weekend…
I have to give this guy the benefit of the doubt since I still own an Antoine Walker jersey myself. However, I have enough will power not to wear the thing in public even though I bought the REAL replica that goes for about $100+.
This dude was sitting right in front of me at Game 5 and ironically enough, the ghost of Antoine Walker was actually in attendance! How random is that. I think Toine is hoping Ainge will feel bad for him and hook him up Nomar Garciaparra style if everything works out...
This is a blurry picture of a girl wearing a Marcus Banks jersey. Let me tell you, she was very quick and elusive. I literally had to sprint through the crowd just to catch up close enough to catch a pic of this classic. I’d be sprinting around the Garden too if I was wearing a jersey of one of the most underachieving players in the NBA. Somehow, dude just hit 7 threes in a game the other night. He must have felt the power of the throwback…
Believe it or not, that is a Ron Mercer jersey way down in the crowd next to the guy in the Moss jersey. I tried my best to get a better shot but my Motorola Q only takes clear (aka less blurry) pictures from 10 feet and closer. What are you gonna do. I honestly have no other comments on this jersey other than “Kill Yourself, Dude”. You’re not fooling anyone into thinking that’s a Garnett jersey.

I'm not sure if this is the same guy but I found another Mercer jersey sighting. Come on fools! Are you people doing this just to piss me off or do you really think you are fooling people? I guess any Celtics gear is better than none but something from the year 2000+ would have been a bit more acceptable...
OK, so technically Scal is still on the team but as you may have read elsewhere on the site, I hate him. I’m not sure if I’m more upset at the fact that this shirt is available for purchase or that people are actually buying it. Even worse, people are starting to cheer this guy on and he’s starting to think he’s popular with the fans so he starts hucking up three pointers that either hit the top of the backboard or shoot bricks so hard they almost crack the glass. At this game, he took a terrible fading shot and ended up hitting Tony Allen right on the noggin without even coming close to hitting the rim. Then 2 minutes later, he upfaked one of the Bobcats out of his jock and went in for the two hand slam. What? You can actually dunk? “How'd you do that? Heck, I'm not even mad; that's amazing. How 'bout we get you in your p.j.'s and we hit the hay.”
Wait, what did I just say? He still sucks…
